Our Commitment
GovCleanBids is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people of all abilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying relevant accessibility standards to make our platform as inclusive as possible.
Conformance Status
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities.
Measures We Take
GovCleanBids takes the following measures to ensure accessibility:
- Semantic HTML: We use proper heading hierarchy, landmarks, and semantic elements to support assistive technologies.
- Keyboard navigation: All interactive elements on the site are accessible via keyboard navigation.
- Color contrast: We maintain sufficient color contrast ratios between text and background colors to meet WCAG AA standards.
- Form labels: All form inputs include associated labels for screen reader compatibility.
- Alt text: Images include descriptive alternative text where applicable.
- Responsive design: The platform is designed to work across screen sizes and devices, including mobile phones and tablets.
- Focus indicators: Visible focus indicators are provided for keyboard users navigating interactive elements.
- Link purpose: Links are written so their purpose can be understood from the link text alone or from context.
Known Limitations
While we strive for full accessibility, some areas of the site may have limitations:
- Some dynamically loaded content may not immediately announce changes to screen readers. We are working to improve ARIA live region implementation.
- PDF documents linked from external sources (such as SAM.gov) may not meet accessibility standards. These documents are maintained by third parties.
- Some third-party embedded content may not fully conform to WCAG standards.
Assistive Technologies
GovCleanBids is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies:
- Screen readers (VoiceOver, NVDA, JAWS)
- Screen magnification software
- Speech recognition software
- Keyboard-only navigation
